Volunteers brave cold to count game

When the various Ambers were built there was already wildlife on these properties. However there were no zebra, blesbuck, impala or nyala. So permits were obtained and these species were introduced. It has now become important to monitor the numbers of these imports.

In 2016 the Greater Amber Natural Resources Club (GANRC) undertook to do a census, and this has been repeated every year since then, except for 2020 when COVID 19 prevented this from happening.

Residents walk to remember and support CANSA

On Monday 14 April, 57 enthusiastic Ambers residents and several four-legged walkers met at Amber Lakes for a walk in support of the Cancer Association of South Africa. Pink clothing was worn to represent breast cancer and blue was for colon or prostrate cancer.

Trivia Quiz reaches a milestone

In 2016, Peter Ayerst, an Amber Valley resident, started the Greater Ambers Trivia Afternoon (GATA). On 27 May 2025 this group celebrated its 400th meeting. At the beginning of September this year GATA will have been running regularly every week for nine years. The only exceptions have been a three-week break each year at Christmas and New Year, and the months in 2020 when COVID 19 meant that we could not leave our homes.
